In the Region of Southern Denmark, a regional diabetes eye screening clinic has been established with a so-called “same-day screening” concept, where the eye module in CSO/Diabetes is used to register the grading of the eye photos. The concept is to have local hospitals taking eye pictures of the patients, which the grading center assesses within the same day and often within the same hour. The result is registered in CSO/Diabetes immediately, which can be seen at the local hospital, whereby the patient can get the result of his eye pictures the same day as they have been taken. The advantage here is further that the region already uses CSO/Diabetes as a diabetes record for a large part of the diabetes patients and thereby relevant treatment data already exists in the system, which is also used in the assessment of the patient’s eye status, e.g., HbA1c, blood pressure, medication etc. At the same time, the diabetes outpatient clinics are provided with an updated status of the eye examination directly in the patient’s diabetes record. CSO/Diabetes also integrates with the The Nationwide Clinical Quality Database for screening for diabetic retinopathy and maculopathy, DiaBase, to which CSO/Diabetes automatically transfers eye data.
