More patients get better treatment with fewer resources
To treat more patients with the same resources and improve the quality of care, the Region of Southern Denmark implemented CSO/Anticoagulation from IntraMed.

Case · Lillebaelt Hospital Vejle
“Many doctors worry about putting patients on anticoagulation therapy. But it is far more dangerous to leave the patient untreated. With CSO/Anticoagulation we are able to prevent at least 100 cerebral thromboembolic episodes per year in the Region of Southern Denmark.”
“In Vejle we carry out 10,000 outpatient checks a year. The Danish DRG system is based on average treatment costs and rewards efficiency. That is why we achieve better treatment of anticoagulation patients, while CSO/Anticoagulation helps us reduce our use of resources.”
Ivan BrandslundMD, DMSc, Head of Research and Professor, Lillebaelt Hospital
Results
From 15 to around 2,500 self-testing patients
The Region of Southern Denmark implemented CSO/Anticoagulation after a successful pilot with 15 patients in a self-monitoring programme. The patients measured their own INR at home and registered the value in the web-based system.
Today, the number of self-testing patients has grown to around 2,500. When patients measure themselves, outpatient resources can be used for other patients, and clinicians can focus on high-risk patients or patients with complications.
